Synopsis
In a pre-apocalyptic world where some people can read a person or object's entire story just by touch, made-to-be-unreadable Alessandra teams up with reader "I Don't Do Investigations" Natasa to find her missing mother. In the midst of the two evading Ale's aristocratic father while searching for clues, a flash-back timeline hints at what her mother's been up to as a survivor and an optimist muse about the world and higher powers.
A meta-theatrical romance, "By Design" explores themes of consent, connection, and free will as Ale and Nat have to decide how much they're willing to risk in order to help—and love—each other.
